Mr. Aikens joined McKing as a Vice President and the Project Manager for the National Prevention Information Network contract, sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). He is a skilled communications counselor with more than 16 years of experience providing full- service account management for public sector, private sector and non-profit clients. He is a results-oriented team leader with experience managing multi- agency/multi-discipline teams. In addition to leading the NPIN contract, Mr. Aikens’ other McKing clients include the Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry supporting the National Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Biorepository, and the CDC’s Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Program.Recent experience and responsibilities include developing communications strategies and providing leadership for on-the-ground execution of communication-driven foundation efforts as a Communications Officer at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. He was also responsible for managing three communications agency teams, and maintaining relationships with news media, key influencers and thought leaders, grantees and employees. While serving as a Vice President at Fleishman-Hillard, Mr. Aikens was responsible for developing multi-year strategic plans for CDC’s National Diabetes Education Campaign, as well as leadership for that program’s account team. He also facilitated a change management initiative to transition the National Diabetes Education Campaign in a new strategic direction.Mr. Aikens maintains active membership in the Public Relations Society of America and the Black Public Relations Society. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Georgia State University, and is a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
